GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) is an international effort aiming at bringing students, science teachers, scientists, and local communities together to carry out research on the Earth System Science (ESS). by providing accurate, consistent and continuous data collection; to be able to identify trends, patterns, and relationships in data; to understand models; and to predict the natural phenomenon that occur on the planet. This will lead to deeper scientific understanding and solutions to problems at the local level. At the regional level GLOBE, also focuses on developing learners to understand the nature of science and use the scientific and psychological process in the quest for knowledge to solve the problem and know that most natural phenomena occur in a certain format can be explained and verified.

The aims of GLOBE for students, teachers, and communities around the world are to improve their environmental research capabilities in nature, with scientific processes in order to understand the relationship of different systems of the world and to recognize local and global environmental conditions and problems (air, water, soil, soil cover / biology)

Thailand is a member of GLOBE. Thailand became the 85th member of the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) upon the Government's signing an agreement with the US Government on 30 September 1999. IPST duly became Thailand's GLOBE coordinator.
